Gay Wedding Locations In Manitoba

On August 12th, 2001, same sex couples won a small battle, by having Manitoba grant gay couples marital status, relating to property rights. This law gave all same sex couples the rights to property, as did it to heterosexual married couples. Although this move was short of total equality, it was a step in the right direction.

Couples in Manitoba, won the right to marry on september 16th, 2004. Justice Douglas Yard of the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench, ordered that the current law, was unconstitutional, and ordered it be changed to include gay couples. He went further by ordering to make immediately available licence's to gay couples.
